Scaling nature-positive enterprises in Africa
Safeguarding Africa’s natural heritage
Scaling transformational businesses
Rigorous and innovative approach

Natural Heritage Capital was established by a team of investment professionals with backgrounds at British International Investment (BII), Actis, Heineken, New Forests, McKinsey & Company, Goldman Sachs, and PwC, to invest in nature-positive enterprises across Africa.

We are an Africa-based team of investors drawn from the same stable of blue-chip investment institutions who have spent decades working in Africa – in many of the harder markets, on pioneering investments, on wins and failures.

We are passionate about delivering impact in Africa – for people, for nature, for climate.

We have learned the hard way that impact at scale cannot be achieved without commercial success – only returns can attract sufficient capital to make a dent.

We believe there is an opportunity for green growth on the continent – abundant natural capital, expanding carbon markets, growing demand for green products, services and supply chains and we identified a group of impressive local businesses – pioneering teams that have a real shot at delivering that growth.

The firm’s investment strategy was built around scaling business models that deliver nature-based solutions to climate change, support biodiversity, and create sustainable economic opportunities for communities living alongside biodiversity-rich ecosystems, with a focus on responsible agriculture, sustainable food systems, renewable energy, and carbon projects, drawing on blended finance where needed to bridge commercial viability and impact at scale.

Natural Heritage Capital’s investment activities are currently paused. The founding members remain engaged in exploring opportunities for nature positive investments on the continent and are open to exploring collaboration with other individuals in this space.
